Welcoming Middle Age

Women have an especially hard time saying goodbye to their young adulthood and welcoming “middle age,” say sociology experts from Florida State University.

And perhaps that’s no wonder, since both women and men view the beginning and the end of middle age as occurring earlier for women, according to research recently published in the journal Advances in Life Course Research. Starting your family at an earlier age or being divorced also makes you feel middle aged sooner.

Most people say midlife generally begins at 44 and ends at 60, according to the Florida State research.
